Why Change It?

Josephines County's current charter was instituted over 20 years ago by voters. Since then it's been modified over a dozen times, leading to confusing and inconsistent language throughout the document. The goal of the changes are to bring the document language up to modern standards, leaving no room of vague interpretation.

With the current political climate, refining our charter will help Josephine County remain a beacon of democracy and keep political turmoil from brewing among our happy citizens.

This proposed charter is a product of the Josephine County Charter Commission with additional input from citizens.

Voting "yes" would put the new Charter into effect January 5, 2025.
